Vans Bowl-A-Rama 2013

The Vans Bowl-A-Rama is back in full perpetual force!  The New Zealand-based competition brings about some of the best vert skaters in the world to skate and thrash their way to victory.

The world's best bowl skaters descended on Wellingtons iconic Waitangi Park in New Zealand, competing in one of the most prestigious skate events of the year, Vans Bowl-A-Rama.

QUIK

This piece is a wonderfuly photographic view of the streets of LA as skater Austyn Gillette seemingly flies through the city around him. It is an excellent demonstration of the essence of street skating.

QUIK is a collaboration between theberrics.com and Quiksilver. It's a film shot exclusively on the sidewalks and streets of Los Angeles giving an unprecedented look into the world of street skating. Captured entirely from a moving vehicle, the film follows Austyn Gillette as he skates through the neighborhoods of LA's historic east-side and downtown at top speed.

Slowmo Uncommon Flatland Tricks @ 1000FPS

"Uncommon skateboarding tricks in super slow motion. Filmed at 1,000 frames per second with a Redlake N3 high speed camera. Since skateboarding trick names are defined by common usage and these tricks are not very common, some of them don't have well-established names. So here are my best guesses as to what they should be called:

Double Rock: Best of 2012

Thrasher Magazine show off the best of their 2012 footage at Double Rock

FIREFLY

FIREFLY shows off some amazing and dazzling technology.  Using a Czech Republic designed and built radio controlled helicopter with DSLR cameras mounted to film, a pilot follows skater Jan Minol as he skates through the city at night.  What makes this particular video spectacular is not the helicopter that follows him, but the blue neon lights attached to the underside of his deck as he cruises about.  This video recieved a Vimeo Staff Pick for it's quality.

Tony Hawk Interviews Rodney Mullen About The First Kickflip

"I sequestered Rodney Mullen recently during a dinner party at my house in order to get the real story behind the kickflip. The only quiet place was my bedroom. Is that weird? Only if you make it weird. Which I might have just done by mentioning it at all. Anyway, he invented the kickflip because he's a genius and we are lucky to have him. Now I made it extra weird. Just enjoy the story and forget I ever said anything."
